rails to trails conservancy

Dear Campaign Advocate,

Please join us for the RTC Active Transportation Reception at our headquarters on the evening of Wednesday, March 10.

Movement on the Campaign for Active Transportation has made life in Washington, D.C., exciting! At the top of our priority list, as most of you are aware, is the impending introduction of the Active Community Transportation Act (ACT Act) by U.S. Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.). Your quick responses have resulted in hundreds of organizational signatures from around the country for our letter of support for the legislation.

Since introduction of the ACT Act has been delayed due to the winter storms that shut down the Federal Government last week, we are still accepting signatures for the letter of support. We anticipate introduction sometime during the week of Feb. 22.

An important upcoming opportunity to support the ACT Act will be through the League of American Bicyclists’ Bike Summit, March 9-11, one of the largest annual bicycle advocacy events. If you have not already done so, please consider attending the Summit. Further, on the evening of Wednesday, March 10, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) will host an “Active Transportation Reception” at our D.C. office following the close of the day's formal Summit proceedings at 6 p.m.

Active Transportation Reception:

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy National Headquarters
2121 Ward Court NW, 5th Floor, Washington D.C., 20037

Agenda:

6:30 p.m. Arrive, meet & greet
7:00 p.m. Introductions, brief Campaign update
7:10 p.m. Campaign Q&A
8:00 p.m. Q&A ends, continue informal discussions
8:30 p.m. Close

Drinks and light snacks will be provided.

Please R.S.V.P. now so we can plan accordingly. Feel free to forward this invitation to other Campaign for Active Transportation supporters who will be attending the Summit.

We look forward to seeing you in March!

Thank you,

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy

P.S. Speaking of excitement... As this e-mail was about to be sent, we received word that Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) funds have been awarded! Read the press release now, or go directly to the list and descriptions of projects awarded nationally.
