rails to trails conservancy

Dear Campaign Advocate,

Here is some more time-sensitive communication as we enter the critical—and exciting—public launch phase of the campaign.

1) Community case statements now available

The community case statements are now available! See which communities are participating in the 2010 Campaign for Active Transportation, and read about the ambitious plans they have to promote walking and biking.

Each of these communities deserves congratulations for a job well done. The amount of time they have invested in preparing their case statements has proven very impressive and clearly indicates the pressing need for more active transportation funding on a national level. Thank you for your hard work.

See the list of engaged communities, and read their case statements, now.

2) “Active Transportation for America” briefing webinar a success

Thank you to those of you who participated in Tuesday’s briefing webinar on “Active Transportation for America,” Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's (RTC) groundbreaking report that quantifies, for the first time, the benefits our nation would see with increased walking and biking. The conversation was very informative and gave participants the tools they will need to understand the report and field media questions on its conclusions and methodology.

If you weren’t able to participate, take a look at the slideshow now to bring yourself up to speed.

As always, if you have specific questions, please don’t hesitate to contact RTC. Similarly, if during the course of your media outreach you are asked questions you’re uncomfortable answering, feel free to direct reporters to RTC Public Relations Manager Katie Test, at 202.974.5152 or katie@railstotrails.org.

3) Plans confirmed for “Active Transportation for America” national press release

As discussed during Tuesday’s webinar, RTC will release “Active Transportation for America” this coming Monday, Oct. 20, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Rep. James Oberstar (D-Minn.), Chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, will receive the report on behalf of Congress, and voice his support for our aims.

Sincerely,

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy
