rails to trails conservancy

Dear Campaign Advocate,

We have three quick news items to share with you:

First, a reminder: If you are considering attending the 2011 Bike Summit in Washington, D.C., please join Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) for dinner and an informal strategy session the evening of Wednesday, March 9. Details are to be determined, but please RSVP if you think you might be able to join us so we can plan accordingly.

(Also, two RTC staff members are presenting at the summit on Wednesday: Vice President of Trail Development Jeff Ciabotti will be on a 9:30 a.m. panel on active transportation, and NTEC Program Manager Tracy Hadden Loh will be on a 9:30 a.m. panel discussing the basics of federal highway financing. Please join us at one or the other!)

Second, Representative John Mica (R-Fl.), chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, will host a series of listening sessions around the country, starting February 14, to engage new members of his committee and hear about transportation interests around the country. If you live near any of the listening session locations as identified in this press release (locations listed at the bottom of this e-mail), please contact RTC so that we may strategize to ensure that trails, walking and bicycling are represented in the discussion, and connect you with other local advocates.

And third, thanks to those of you who joined last week’s webinar training on successful congressional meetings. Please join us for another webinar next Wednesday, Feb. 16, 12-1:30 p.m. EST. Presenters will again include Caron Whitaker of America Bikes, Margo Pedroso of the Safe Routes to School National Partnership, and Kevin Mills, RTC vice president of policy. Register now!

Thank you,

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy
